Old Fashioned Charm of Decorative Vintage Crafts....

I was reading Mary's blog, http://crochetingthedayaway.blogspot.com/2011/10/tunisian-crochet-how-to-basic-tunisian.html , on how to do Tunisian crochet, which is one of the best examples of photos and directions on 'how to' that I have ever seen! Mary is a dedicated crafter and blogger, and fellow Etsian. I sell on Etsy.com also, but I'm one of the 'vintage' people. LOL I used to crochet, knit, sew drapes, costumes, etc., upholster furniture...antique and otherwise, refinish furniture, and other things. It seems that over the years, my passion for the search of vintage and antiques has won out over other interests. I do want to get back into the craft side of things, especially combining my interest of vintage with crafts. One example is a vintage 1930's photo frame that I decorated with vintage costume jewelry. I would like to do more with vintage to give it a new life, and repurpose it. Wouldn't this be an excellent gift for someone special?

The 'vintage' person, and 'crafter', can be 'one in the same', can't they....

The Old Fashioned Charm Of A Scottish Plaid Blanket

Vintage Scottish Plaid Woolcraft Robe Blanket

The old fashioned charm of a Scottish plaid blanket...in the 1950's a plaid blanket could be seen quite often, on a couch as a throw when you felt a chill, at the end of a bed for a naptime cover up, in the family car to use during the drive-in movie, or as ground cover for a picnic! A plaid blanket, with it's homey, warm cuddly feel, is making a come back today. It fits in with many types of decor, including the modern look. There are new ones being made, but nothing can compare to the original 1950's blankets, which can still be found today! A vintage blanket has alot of 'life' in it yet!
Above is a plaid blanket made in the U.S.A., and below is one from Scotland! I think they have equal appeal, and color tones to please!

Old Fashioned Charm Of The Tea Party Can Be Found On Your Table!

Vintage Roses Ohata China Footed Teacup and Saucer Occupied Japan

Old Fashioned Charm appreciates tea parties...whether they be formal, or informal...a group tea party, or a tea party of one!
In today's bustling world, we often do not take the time for ourselves, or our 'sisters', whether they be friend, or family! It seems we are all going at such a fast pace, and we need to slow down! With computer email, social sites, and phone texting, it seems that we are frequently sharing our lives with a piece of technology, and not a person!
Years ago, I often met with my relatives, or friends, for a cup of coffee, or tea, and a chat! I finally made the time and visited a friend, not for an arranged outing as we often do, but to just sit and chat!
When you are on your own...make sure you take time for yourself, if just for a cup of tea and a biscuit!
